Các anh các chị ơi hehee cho em hỏi :D

Bọn mày bảo có nên gửi mail giả vờ thắc mắc (mặc dù chẳng có cái thắc mắc nào :D) cho người ta nhớ mặt mình không nhảy (như bạn Khánh gợi ý ý :D). Lần trước talk với bà from Barnard thấy bà ý cũng kêu đứa nào ko communicate với trường chứng tỏ have no interest :|

Mỗi tội ngồi mà soạn email hỏi các cụ thì mất thì giờ 8-|, năm ngoái bọn mày có làm thế ko :-?
 
Mọi người ơi, cho em hỏi 1 câu hơi bị ngố: Mình có thể gửi package đến trường bao gồm: Common app, supp app, school transcript,.. đến trường trứoc. Rồi sau cho mới gửi financial stuff được không?
Với lại, cái fee waiver thì có anh chị nào có thể post 1 cái làm mẫu được không ạ?
 
em có thể gửi sau được vì deadline admission và deadline financial aid khác nhau nhưng làm thế tốn thêm tiền gửi em ạ :(

Mọi người lưu ý là có một số trường nhấn mạnh thẳng ra trên website là email linh tinh sẽ KHÔNG increase chance (for example Stanford). Thường thì ở những LACs thì personal communication quan trọng hơn là Ivy schools. Ngoài ra, mình cũng nên nghĩ cho các adcom một chút - mỗi ngày họ phải trả lời hàng trăm emails. Nếu hỏi linh tinh thì có khi lại annoying họ.

Instead, another way to establish personal connection is to email Vnese/int'l students, dean/coordinator of int'l students or professors of your favorite subjects. While these people do not have a direct say in the decision, their voice matters A LOT. Plus, they are less demanded than adcom, and hence your communication will go a LONG way. So yeah, network with them, and if they like you, they will volunteer to push your application (if needed).

@Hường: well, I think I should cite my own experience :D. Last year, my Conn open a message board - it's like a forum where prospective students can ask questions in categorized boxes like Admission, Academics, Residential Life and get answers from an admission counselor and some current students. There was even a topic like "Officer of the Week" that introduced those who would read our apps (who knows if that helps ;)))... Else, there was an admission blog.

I was the one who came up with tons of "inquiries" that the admin even remembered both my nickname and real name; he then sent me email like "I noticed your decision some weeks ago and it's killing me not to tell you" blah blah... It was great - when I got deferred many people there encouraged me and when I was accepted, they congratulated on me.

I don't think that 'connection' did contribute to my app, 'cause he wasn't the officer to give the decision (someone used to think so :p...), but I believe it helped to show my enthusiasm and I guess, that may somehow impress them. Emails should be more formal than fora, but it never harms if in those emails, you express your love for the school - of course - in an 'intelligent' and cool way :D.

Các anh chị cho em hỏi nếu trường có Rolling Admission thì app sớm có lợi hơn ko? Còn nếu gửi muộn hơn thì chance có bị giảm ko?
 
Anh Việt Long ới ời, trong supplement của Lafayette có chỗ why Laf nhưng lại bé tẹo, mỗi 3 dòng, nên em chẳng biết viết vào theo kiểu gì. Anh cho một ít advice hay hint được ko ạ, chứ chẳng lẽ viết là My interest in Laf is only due to your amazing generosity ^_^

Uh, bà Jess tính siêu cool, hôm phỏng vấn còn hớn hở khoe tớ ảnh bà đấy chụp ở vịnh Hạ Long:D. Mà bà đấy rất quý Việtnam. Bà ý đang bảo là năm sau bà ý sẽ xin viện trợ của trường để quay lại Việt nam dự Vietabroader conference đấy.
Btw, bà ý kể gì về tớ đấy:D
 
Năm nay app khác hay sao mà năm của a làm gì có Why Laf nhỉ :-? Nếu chỉ có 3 dòng thì ghi tóm tắt = các danh từ thoai :D

Các anh chị ơi cho em hỏi chút. Nếu mà điểm SAT II Toán của mình cũng được nhưng điểm Lý siêu tệ thì làm thế nào ạ? Khi mình đã gửi điểm là gửi hết nên người ta sẽ thấy cả điểm kém. Thế lỡ người ta bảo con này ngu môn XXX quá thì làm sao ạ?
 
They don't care about "môn XXX" :)). Just joking!
