What Election Day means to us?

Ohio went red. Republicans now have 269/270 needed to win. There are Virginia and West Virginia, 2 red states, left. It's over. Now it's a matter of whether Bush will be able to get over 300 electoral votes to satisfy his followers and somewhat justify his win 4 years ago.
Theoretically, the result may change due to the validation process of provisional ballots. Still, Kerry's campaign is now as good as dead. :(
What hurts the Democrats the most this time is that voters place social matter ( i.e abortion and gay rights v. Christianity ) over economics. 'God bless America' :(

Even if there's a 269/269 tie, what with the Senate in the Republicans' hands, it pretty much seems that Bush is staying where he is... What will 4 more years of Republican administration result in?

wait a min :D, my stats above may be tentative.
Just discovered that Fox News made early call in OH. Yet, there's still hope, even slim ones.

Wrong. It makes all the difference. Simply from a theoretical point of view, the Presidency = the whole executive branch, the Senate = 1/2 the Legisative... besides, one can be the president then hope for some justices to die (Scalia for example, hehe) then appoint one

Shall I ask you back the question :) What will it result in? Do you really believe that a Democratic administration would differ so much from a Republican one?

For those who are watching the elections, keep in mind that results shown on TV are only PROJECTED by the news corp, they don't necessarily have to be accurate (although most of the time they are.) For ex, for now, Fox and NBC have projected Ohio for Bush, but CNN has decided that it's too close for a call. Wait and pray... for Kerry. As I've already said... not a good government, but hopefully a less bad :)

And I can answer that question:
*Democratic President: -D Senate: A boon no less. Possible hope for better international policies and relations, but it doesn't seem that Americans really care that they're standing alone in the world.
-R Senate: A hindrance.
*Republican President: -D Senate: Possibly restrict some of his more outlandish decisions.
-R Senate: Will pass more tax cuts, and probably appoint a conservative Justice to the Supreme Court.

And no, a tie will not help John Kerry with the Houses in the Republicans hands. Besides, as I remember, the majority of the Justices are still well and alive, and very much Republican.

I'm watching BBC, and they still haven't called Ohio yet (might be 3 hours). Remember that Fox called Florida for Bush 4 years ago, while CNN (I think) called for Gore.

Just read from CNN website Bush: 249 and Kerry: 228...
God bless Kerry man :D

Too true. In politics, it is always a question of who is the lesser of the two evils :) By the way, can I ask who you are? It's weird talking to a person named "guest".

News from CNN , Ohio went blue i think since the ratio is 249:242 for Bush and kerry respectively

BBC still at a standstill. Come on, provisional ballots, come through for me!

The post you directly quoted from is of Mr. Hoang Long. Guess he was just too busy spending his precious time doing research on the presidential election to log in . FYI, some of the rest are mine

nah, if you bother having a longer look, CNN colors OH 'purple'. Those that add up to 242 are of Michigan and Hawaii.

and to win, Kerry must be able to claim Ohio AND another uncalled state ( most likely Nevada ).
Still, it looks unfavorable.

as I just sent my post, Yahoo! called NV red. May be I jinxed them
anyway, there wont be further results on provisional ballots for the next few days, right?

Nevada went red, New Mexico and Ohio are still purple. 254 to 242 for Bush and Kerry respectively

OMG, Kerry 252 and Bush 256
Ohio: Bush 51% and Kerry 49%
Bush has more popular votes
Can Kerry make it :((

where are 2 votes coming from the ?... CNN is still at a standstill with 254: 252 for Bush and Kerry respectively

Dammit, seems like Bush got it, but the Kerry camp still does not concede
We have 11 days for re-counting all the ballots, especially in Ohio
Hope that there're some voters fraud:D

there s no need for voters fraud . He'll make it :) :)>-

hmm, isnt CNN somehow outdated ? It stands still at 254-252 till now . OHio is another hotly contested Florida 2000, it seems . And btw, how come the couting takes 11 days in Ohio ? I dont get the idea ( Bro MHiếu , you get it right , its 11 days , not 11 hours ) .250,000 provisional and absentee ballots remained to be counted in the key battleground state of Ohio. HOpe is there still :)

And Chi Mai , its painflly true that the majority of the Justices are still well and alive, and very much Republican. Bless Kerry 0:) . Dont let history repeat itsefl stupidly 8-} . Dont let the Supreme Court play the game one more time 8-} . Bush gonna play the dirty trick 6-5 like that of 2000 >_<it sucks . I call it dirty trick . Monkey business >_<

And the map , too . Something weird with it . How come Kerry make it in almost every NOrthern states : washinton , NY ,etc.., not southern ones ,in which hes expected most to win ?????

Ohio still gets 20 electoral votes remainning . However ,unfortunately , this margin is statistically insurmountable, even after the provisional ballots are considered .The red states are taking over , it seems :( IF smt fuckin happens , should Kerry concede defeat and spare the country the turmoil of another drawn-out election like that AL Gore has done in 2000 ????

oh, forget that , we can wait one more night ANd if the Ohio couting does take the 11 days to come , we"ll have much more to play on . 270 needed . And Nader , poor him got 1% all the time .

:)) I like this kind of live hot battles . It stimulates the whole world really . IT keeps me from falling asleep with tons of kinda sleep-tempting homework . 0:)

Sorry, the ballots in Ohio is being counted, not re-counted
The Kerry Camp Manager said there was about 250,000 ballots that was not counted
Hope that all of them count Kerry:D

It's true that most justices are rep. with the exception of Ginsburg and Breyer. of course they are still alive :) otherwise they won't be justices  but not all are well. Rehnquist has been diagnosed with cancer lately. Beside him, there are @ least 2 other justices who are in their eighties or late seventies. The Senate has a hand in the appointment of a Justice, but mainly, it's a task performed by the President. In fact, the appointment of a Supreme Court Justice is one of the most important powers held by the President of the US.
You guys here, young as many of you still are, appear very well-informed. I really have much fun reading stuffs that some of you have written here :) I have much concern about this election not quite because of my belief in any potentional significance it might have over the fate of America or the world or whatever. it's just that i've spent quite a bit of time campaigning with the college dems @ my school and that I've made a bet on Kerry for seafood :D Now all is lost :((
Chi Mai, are u going to school in the states?
