Ok , this is another Oprah talk show , to me this one is extremely inspirational and important , it shows us just how much that people around us even total strangers or just some people only incidentally pass by our lives yet can dramatically turn them around , help us to find the very faith deep down inside each of us and to have the strength to accomplish all wutsoever of our achievments...Please join me in these incredbly touching stories below about people who found pride and courage, and overcame enormous obstacles—all because of their remarkable inspirations!
Ninety percent of the people who attempt to reach the top of Mount Everest fail. Erik Weihenmayer, blind since childhood, scaled the highest peak in the world as part of the 2001 National Federation of the Blind Everest Expedition. As a child, Erik hated his blindness, until he received a lesson in humility and courage from a school bus driver.
"It's a great example that the smallest encounters can lead to big changes. The lesson went beyond blindness. It taught me that sometimes you can't do something alone."
Erik didn't know it, but Kyle, a blind boy he once met in a small encounter and profoundly inspired, was here to express his appreciation for changing his life.
"Erik, I want to thank you for all you've done for me. You have inspired me to try many different things I may not have attempted—most importantly, rock climbing. ...You inspired me to have courage, hope and faith at a time when I needed it most. You changed my life in so many ways. I consider you one of my best friends."
"Life is one reach after another into the darkness when you don't know what's out there. Standing on top of Everest showed me what was possible in my life. I think all of us have an internal drive to stand on top. The world is so chaotic, and sometimes you can't predict what's around the corner. All of us feel like we are 'climbing blind,' in a sense. We may lose things in our life that we think are important, but everything we need to bring us happiness either exists inside of us already, or it's right in front of our eyes and we just have to reach for it." — Erik Weihenmayer
When Fernando Pullam was a young man, Marcellus Brown inspired him to change his life. Fernando was considering dealing drugs when Marcellus, a music teacher at Chicago State University, heard him play the trumpet, and offered him a scholarship.
Fernando found success working as a musician, but his real passion was teaching. He took a job as a high school band director in south central L.A. To Marcellus, he says, "Thank you for believing in me and giving me a life I wouldn't have had. Thank you very much."
Today, Fernando passes on the lessons he learned from Marcellus to his own students. He has inspired countless students to see new possibilities in their own lives, and almost all of his band members have gone on to higher education (he's still working on that one!).
Fernando also encourages his students to give free music lessons to less fortunate students. When we told instrument retailer Conn-Selmar about the program, they donated $50,000 worth of brand-new instruments, everything from trumpets, to tubas, to drums!
These teenage girls are known as the "Dragon Slayers," part of the volunteer fire department in Aniak, Alaska. They provide the only round-the-clock emergency care in their isolated area. Fire Chief Pete Brown started the rescue squad, and these brave girls stuck with the program.
The girls complete 200 hours of emergency and fire safety training, and must remain drug- and alcohol-free. Chief Brown is their inpiration. "Having somebody that believes in you is just an awesome thing," one of the girls said. "I think we're going to go far."
Pete's daughter, Mariah, one of the first "Dragon Slayers," is now training to become a medic in the Navy. She had a special message for her dad: "You were the inspiration for the baby, the schoolgirl, the 'Dragon Slayer,' the graduate and the daughter, just as you will always be for the woman I am becoming. Thank you."
Pete and the "Dragon Slayers" often have to borrow vehicles to reach those in need. When the people at Land Rover heard that, they donated a brand-new Range Rover, customized for the harsh terrain of Alaska!
When a diving accident left Mitch Ulrich with a broken neck, doctors told him he would never walk again. Still, Mitch went through rehabilitation, hoping to recover. Just when he was about to give up, a new friendship with former NFL star Phil Villapiano inspired him to try again.
Phil gave Mitch his Super Bowl ring, and said he would only take it back when Mitch could walk over and hand it to him. Fourteen weeks later, with the help of a cane, Mitch walked ten feet to hand Phil his ring. "I can never thank him enough," Mitch said. "He renewed my faith in humanity."
