In line with our increasing business in SE-Asia, Pöyry Energy Ltd. (former Electrowatt-Ekono Ltd.) is looking for a Power Plant Consulting Engineer for our power projects in SE-Asia.
We are looking for a young person with up to ten years work experience from power utilities, consultancy or engineering companies, or alternatively a young graduate with suitable educational background.
We offer an interesting and challenging job at the forefront of the power industry. Pöyry is one of the largest power sector consultancy and engineering companies in the world with about 1,700 people working in power sector in 22 offices around the world. In SE-Asia, we are one of the leading power sector consultancies executing our regional consultancy assignments mainly from our Bangkok office, which has multinational staff of over 130.
Your scope of work may include, depending on your qualifications, experience and interests, some of the following:
- assistance in power plant feasibility studies and lenders engineer projects
- power project development, heat and mass balance calculations for thermal power projects
- analysis of power and steam demand for industries
- energy balance calculations
- power plant conceptual design
- preparation of technical specifications for power projects
- monitoring of power plant construction projects
- preparation of investment cost and O&M cost estimates.
Candidates interested in business development can also participate in proposal preparation for new projects. On the job training will be provided to help the employee to master the work requirements. Part of the work involves writing reports in English language, so excellent English language skill is a must. Other Asian language skills are considered a plus, and Thais and other Asians meeting the job requirements are strongly encouraged to apply.
The position is located in Bangkok, Thailand. The job includes occasional trips to other SE-Asian countries, so willingness to travel on short-term assignments is expected.
The qualifications and requirements for the position are:
Professional:
- Higher professional degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, energy economics or other field relevant for power sector (M.Sc. or B.Sc.) with above average grades
- Fluent in English
- Good skills in report writing
- Good skills in Microsoft Word and Excel computer programs
Character:
- Enjoys analyzing and solving complex technical or techno-economical issues
- Interested in continuous self-development and learning
