Bảng ranking này có một hạn chế lớn là không xếp hạng LACs, hoàn toàn chỉ gồm uni

Ôi mệt quá , hoa hết cả mắt rồi . Hẹn mọi người ngày mai post nốt cùng một số comments , bây giờ mệt quá , sao trăng bay ngập trời rồi .
 
Dựa vào đâu mà có bản xếp hạng này thế em??? Anh thấy như trường Ecole Polytechnique Pháp đây mà đến tận thứ mấy trăm thì bất công quá :D

Is our academic ranking objective?

The quality of universities cannot be precisely measured by mere numbers. Therefore, any ranking is controversial and no ranking is absolutely objective. People should be cautious about any ranking including our Academic Ranking of World Universities.

It would be impossible to have a comprehensive ranking of universities worldwide, because of the huge differences of universities in the large variety of countries and the technical difficulties in obtaining internationally comparable data.

We choose to rank universities worldwide by their academic or research performance. Furthermore, our Academic Ranking is based on internationally comparable data that everyone could check.

How many universities have we ranked?

We have scanned every university that has any Nobel Laureates, Fields Medals, Highly Cited Researchers, or papers published in Nature or Science. In addition, we scanned major universities of every country with significant amount of papers cited by SCIE and SSCI. In total, we have scanned more than two thousand universities.

Although we publish only the top 500 universities, we have actually ranked one thousand universities. We regret that we will not be able to provide you with information on the ranking of universities beyond the top 500.

Này, hình như dạo này bọn Tầu đang nịnh Mẽo hay sao ấy :D Nói như chú DAM đây thì trường anh chả thấy đâu trong bảng xếp hạng :p (hoặc là nhìn nhức mắt quá tìm ko ra)
 
anh Hiếu & anh Hoàng : cái ranking nào cũng chỉ mang tính tham khảo thôi mà anh . Ranking này , theo em ,là có uy tín .Nếu anh dùng google tìm "world university ranking 04 " ranking này được xếp trên world uni ranking của USnews b-) Với lại, the Best uni of tech in ENgland tại sao lại không đứng sau hàng loạt những best uni of tẹch khác của US được ạ? Hơn nữa , ranking này chấm điểm Alumni và award rất cao, IMperial của anh Hiếu mới established vào đầu 1900 thì làm sao đã địch lại được Havard , Cambridge ..

anh Hiếu dùng những tiêu chí là best ở chỗ này thì phải rank , nếu không phải high thì cũng là relatively high ở bảng world rank , thì hơi flaw. EM đâu có tìm được trường ngoại thương ( top in Vn ) trong bảng 400-500 đâu ạ .

Ngay đến ranking của US news cũng có những trường bị đẩy xuống rất thấp so với chất lượng thực tế vì không supply data cho US news.

Em Phương nói thế là sai rồi... minh ko thể so sánh ngoại thương với một trường của Mỹ hay của Anh được khi mà trường của mình còn ko to bằng 1 cái college của nó :D... Nhưng anh chỉ thấy hơi bất công là trên thực tế nhiều trường ơ Mỹ chưa chắc đã tốt bằng các trường ở Anh. Có thể ranking này base on the financial resources của từng trường ... trong khi các trường ở mỹ thì rất mạnh về khoản này... còn nếu so sánh về bao nhiêu năm thành lập trường... thi Oxbridge hơn hẳn các trường ở mỸ mà phải nói quốc tử giám của mình mới là vô địch... vì thế cho cùng ranking vẫn chỉ là ranking... ko thể nhìn vào đó để đánh giá bộ mặt của trường được (ý anh nói là VD các trường trong top 50).

Hơi bất cập khi tất cả những trường trên đều được ranked top 30 in the US và LSE ranked top 5 UK

LÁC làm gì có gì để mà rank, actually LAC is NOT considered UNIVERSITY

UC Sanfran overrated
Imperial mặc dù là best Tech institute ở UK nhưng mấy năm gần đây Nobel Tech về những trường ở Mỹ nhiều hơn, đặc biệt là UC Berkeley, actually UC Berkeley at #4 a little overrated also
Nói chung bản xếp hạng này còn nhiều bất cấp lắm, rank univ ở các nước khác nhau gần như là ko thể. Nhưng vào top school ở UK có vẻ dễ dàng hơn vào top school ở US. Cambrigde, Imperial, LSE, Oxford có rất nhiều người Việt học undergrad trong khi tính cả top 20 univ ở Mỹ dân du học Việt học undergrad có thể đếm trên đầu ngón tay.
Mà sao có thẳng Rockefeller University nào ở US ranked at #29 nhỉ, mình ở đây bao năm mà vẫn chưa nghe đến trường này bao giờ

Tóm lại bản xếp hạng này ko được chính xác

CHị Trang nói thế cũng không đúng... nếu chị cho rằng là top UK dễ vào thì hoàn toàn sai lầm... chỉ đơn giản, hệ thống admission ở hai nước khác nhau thôi. Như bọn em khi apply vào Oxbridge hay Imperial, LSE đều là những cuộc chiến không kém gì để vào top IVies của Mẽo, thêm vào nữa, mình phải compete vơi cả all sts ko như ở bên mỹ chỉ có VN chiên đấu với nhau hay cùng lắm thì Intel' sts only. Thế nên để vào bất cứ trường nào trong top 10 or top 5 đều rất khéo. Should appreciate that.

Cal Berkeley > MIT > Princeton > U Chicago > Yale > UCSD > U Penn > UCSF????

xếp hạng kiểu éo gì đấy, đúng là bọn Khựa. lởm nhất là cái UCSF ở Mỹ ngoài cái med school ra thì hầu như chả có tiếng tăm gì. UCSD mà lại hơn UPenn :mrgreen:

chú Hiếu tưởng là nếu chú nộp ở Mẽo thì chú chỉ phải đấu với intl students là chú hơi nhầm. trừ khi mấy trường chú nộp nó đang sống chết để tăng diversity còn nếu không chú mà lởm hơn thằng Mẽo thì trường nó nhất định lấy thằng Mẽo. cái vấn đề là ở chỗ chúng nó định nghĩa thế nào là "lởm hơn", vd như nó sẽ không expect chú có điểm verbal SAT cao hơn thằng Mẽo nhưng điểm Math của chú phải cao chẳng hạn.

1. Ranking Criteria and Weights

We rank universities by several indicators of academic or research performance, including alumni and staff winning Nobel Prizes and Fields Medals, highly cited researchers, articles published in Nature and Science, articles in Science Citation Index-expanded and Social Science Citation Index, and academic performance with respect to the size of an institution.

For each indicator, the highest scoring institution is assigned a score of 100, and other institutions are calculated as a percentage of the top score. The distribution of data for each indicator is examined for any significant distorting effect; standard statistical techniques are used to adjust the indicator if necessary.

Scores for each indicator are weighted as shown below to arrive at a final overall score for an institution. The highest scoring institution is assigned a score of 100, and other institutions are calculated as a percentage of the top score. The scores are then placed in descending order. 2. Definition of Indicators

Alumni. The total number of the alumni of an institution winning Nobel Prizes and Fields Medals. Alumni are defined as those who obtain bachelor, Master's or doctoral degrees from the institution. Different weights are set according to the periods of obtaining degrees. The weight is 100% for alumni obtaining degrees in 1991-2000, 90% for alumni obtaining degrees in 1981-1990, 80% for alumni obtaining degrees in 1971-1980, and so on, and finally 10% for alumni obtaining degrees in 1901-1910. If a person obtains more than one degrees from an institution, the institution is considered once only.

Award. The total number of the staff of an institution winning Nobel prizes in physics, chemistry, medicine and economics and Fields Medal in Mathematics. Staff is defined as those who work at an institution at the time of winning the prize. Different weights are set according to the periods of winning the prizes. The weight is 100% for winners in 2001-2003, 90% for winners in 1991-2000, 80% for winners in 1981-1990, 70% for winners in 1971-1980, and so on, and finally 10% for winners in 1911-1920. If a winner is affiliated with more than one institution, each institution is assigned the reciprocal of the number of institutions. For Nobel prizes, if a prize is shared by more than one person, weights are set for winners according to their proportion of the prize.

HiCi. The number of highly cited researchers in 21 broad subject categories in life sciences, medicine, physical sciences, engineering and social sciences. These individuals are the most highly cited within each category for the period of 1981-1999. The definition of categories and detailed procedures can be found at the website of Institute of Scientific Information.
N&S. The number of articles published in Nature and Science between 1999 and 2003. To distinguish the order of author affiliation, a weight of 100% is assigned for corresponding author affiliation, 50% for first author affiliation (second author affiliation if the first author affiliation is the same as corresponding author affiliation), 25% for the next author affiliation, and 10% for other author affiliations. Only publications of article type are considered.

SCI. Total number of articles cited in Science Citation Index-expanded and Social Science Citation Index in 2003. Only publications of article type are considered.

Size. The total scores of the above five indicators divided by the number of full-time equivalent academic staff. If the number of academic staff for institutions of a country cannot be obtained, the total scores of the above five indicators is used. For ranking - 2004, the number of full-time equivalent academic staff are obtained for institutions in USA, China (mainland), Italy, Netherlands, Sweden, and Belgium etc.

Tất nhiên là nó phải ở trên rồi, vì USNews làm gì có World ranking. Google mà biết rank các ranking nữa thì đúng là hơi giỏi. :D
 
@bác Long: ở Mẽo các bác có SAT thì tụi em cũng phải có đủ điểm A-level để vào.... ko đơn giản... nói thật là khó hơn SAT nhiều vì nó accademic hơn. Em chỉ oppose ý kiến của chị Trang là apply vào top 10 Uk dễ hơn top 10 ở Mỹ. Em đã apply ở Anh đã đựơc nhận, bỏ apply sang Mỹ nên cũng biết cái nào competitive hơn... và nói cho cùng thì cả 2 cái đêu rất competitive. Ví dụ như để vào Oxbridge thì phải học tử tế để đi phỏng vấn chứ không phải cứ nộp mỗi cái hồ sơ là được... mà phỏng vấn có thể là 1 ngày hoặc cả 2 ngày trời. Imperial, LSE thì competitive kiểu khác, nó bắt mình phải toàn diện chú tâm vào cái mình học, thể hiện mình cức kỳ enthusiastic cái mình định học.... thêm nữa nó cũng bắt đi phỏng vấn.... phê ko kém Oxbridge.
@Phương: không phải là muốn bỏ, phí vãi lúa thế mà vẫn phải bỏ vì hết tiền :(

Chú Hiếu, trước hết anh là con trai, anh nói thế chẳng quá dựa vào data thì thấy top 10 của Mỹ học sinh người Việt rất ít so với top school của UK thôi.
Thx Giving này anh Long cho em bám càng lên five colleges chơi nhá, cứ nghĩ đến cảnh có các em gái tung tăng xung quanh là em thấy phê lắm rồi
