Yến nói thế làm tớ phải tra từ điển & lục google toét cả mắt, phát hiện ra cái môn sustainability studies này có vẻ hay hay, nhưng chẳng tìm thấy định nghĩa rõ ràng nào cho "sustainability", nhất là "sustainability of a country" cả.Thiều Hoàng Yến đã viết:

heheehe, bạn My yêu quái ơi, chính tớ cũng đang muốn học thêm về môn này đây, không thì start cái thread này làm gì. Học kì trứơc tớ đi Costa Rica học 1 program gọi là "sustainable human development" nhưng chưa học được mấy can tội mải đi biển nhiều quá => muốn học thêm nhiều đây. Về cái này nói ngắn thì không hết, mà nói dài thì chưa biết đủ mà nói, hẹn My một thời gian nữa khi nào gom đủ tài liệu, hỏi thêm thì sẽ post lên đây cho mọi người đọc chơi nhé

Just to start, here are some definitions:
1.World Commission on Environment and Development. Our Common Future. Oxford: Oxford University Press, 1987.
Sustainable development : The ability of humanity to ensure that it meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own nee ds. Sustainable development is not a fixed state of harmony, but rather a process of change in which the exploitation of resources, the direction of investments, the orientation of technological development and institutional changes are made consistent with future as well as present needs.
2.Mustafa Tolba. Sustainable Development - Constraints and Opportunities. London: Butterworth. 1987.
Sustainable development has become an article of faith, a shibboleth: often used but little explained. Does it amount to a strategy? Does it apply only to renewable resources? What does the term actually mean? In broad terms the concept of sustainable development encompasses:
1. Help for the very poor because they are left with no option other than to destroy their environment;
2. The idea of self-reliant development, within natural resource constraints;
3. The idea of cost-effective development using differing economic criteria to the traditional approach; that is to say development should not degrade environmental quality, nor should it reduce productivity in the long run;
4. The great issues of health control, appropriate technologies, food self-reliance, clean water and shelter for all;
5. The notion that people-centered initiatives are needed; human beings, in other words, are the resources in the concept.

There are also several dilemmas related to the concept, including the role of growth as the unquestioned objective of economic policy, techniques for measuring sustainable development, the trade-offs between conflicting environmental goals and the limited time and distance horizons of elected politicians.

A sustainable society implicitly connotes one that is based on a long-term vision in that it must foresee the consequences of its diverse activities to ensure that they do not break the cycles of renewal; it has to be a society of conservation and generational concern. It must avoid the adoption of mutually irreconcilable objectives. Equally, it must be a society of social justice because great disparities of wealth or privilege will breed destructive disharmony.

Nhưng tớ không thắc mắc về định nghĩa của sustainable development, mà về sự khác biệt giữa "sustainable development" & "sustainability" cơ.
Nếu Yến vào cái link này thì sẽ thấy ngay là sustainability được hiểu theo nghĩa không hoàn toàn giống với sustainable development:

Còn nếu đúng là sustainable development = sustainability thì tớ không còn gì để thắc mắc nữa.

Hehe anh cũng biết về Development nên có nhiều tài liệu về Sustainability lắm, cả instability cũng có. Nhưng mà nhìn con gấu của em Yến đẹp quá nên chưa có hứng cho mượng tài liệu hehe

Ờ, tao cũng không biết có cái sustainability. Còn cái sustainable development tao tưởng chỉ là tiêu chí của development economics thôi chứ nhỉ, cũng như sustainable human development thì là tiêu chí của human development chứ |-)
