PTTH chuyên HN-Ams ?

Mọi người ơi, xin lỗi vì em phải post 1 topic riêng thế này, vì đang cần biết ngay: "Trường PTTH chuyên Hà Nội - Amsterdam" dịch sang tiếng Anh là cái gì thế ??
 
Nếu tao nhớ kô nhầm trong cái form bảng điểm tiếng Anh của trường mình thì là Hanoi Amsterdam high school for the gifted họăc là gifted students gì đó:)..
 
Formally, anh nghĩ là chỉ gọi là "Hanoi Amsterdam Highschool" thôi, còn muốn nói trong văn cảnh cụ thể, nhấn mạnh nghĩa chuyên thì cho thêm "for gifted students"

thi HSG thành phố = (name) city (subject) competition
quốc gia = National (subject) competition

That's how they call "thi học sinh giỏi" in US, I guess!
Can anyone help with with the "British" version ?
 
anh thấy đến Louis-le-Grand cũng chỉ có thêm chữ Lycée thôi, thiết nghĩ thì chỉ cần có thêm chữ " sku " là đủ

I don't think so, it'd better be the City's Contest for Excellent Students in the field of ...... (i.e Chemistry). They don't use the word "competition".
Or if you just get the Encouraging prize, you should write that you get the City's Award for Excellent Students in the field of....... or convert the Encouraging Prize into the Forth Prize.
 
uhm, not really, "Excelent student" title can be granted to anyone who get over 90-95 (in high school system) in US --> "City Award for Excelent students" is given to individuals who do well in their classes, for certain subjects; "Contest" meant an open-round competition, like "Essays contest", "Poems contest"..., where anyone can be qualified to join it!
 
Unfortunately, when we have our certificates translated into English by the gov, they do just as I said.
Therefore, I think the phrase "City's Award for Best Students" can partly polish our personal statement if included. You just say that you got a city's award regardless of second prize, third prize or even encouraging prize
 
Dạ thế trường PTTH Chuyên Tổng Hợp dịch là gì ạ? High School for Natural Sciences??? Hay là Tong Hop High School :))

May I ask Who's the "gov" mentioned here? the vietnamese people, right?

sometime, you can translate it this way or that way, it doesnt matter. It's just the way you want to call it. and the term is not inter-languages-standardlized yet.

City's Award for Best Students, in English, or in American, does not have any meaning of contest (or competition), it is just some award given to the best (or good) students based on their study status/grades.

Contest seems to be smaller, organized in one school and competition is bigger (generally)

so I would call the name as
- Hanoi - Amsterdam Highschool Contests
- Hanoi Math Competition, Vietnam Math Competition

For "Tong Hop", I think the school is now called Leonardo Da Vinci Gift Highschool of (Mathematics and Informatics / Physics / Chemisitry).

Merely, what I have copied from the document tt i had verified 2 years b4 for my GPA at high school....
Our lovely school name is:
Specialized in chemistry, Hanoi University of Natural science :D :D

:)) Cái trường em coi bộ thế mà lovely, mỗi người dịch một kiểu, chẳng biết đằng nào mà lần.
Btw, hoạt động Đoàn, rồi thì Bí thư (mục extra-curr activities) dịch sang Tiếng Anh thía nào ạ?
 
"hoạt động Đoàn" dịch là Student Government's activities , "phong trào Đoàn" thì là Student Government's movements , sounds OK ? Còn bí thở thì cứ "head of .." mình nghĩ cũng ổn . Btw . Lan , you are a " head of .." , aren't you :mrgreen:? Còn chuyện mỗi người dịch một kiểu , kiểu nào cũng lovely thì ..chuyện thường ngày ở huyện :mrgreen: Còn trường Tổng hợp thì đúng là "everything mixed high school " nghe cũng tempting đấy chứ :p

Actually we dun have such things like A1, V, Nga, T-A or whatever other classes like HN-ams. Actually we are all just about science. So "everything mixed" is not correct, it must be " science mixed" :)) :))
