04/03/2003. Milan captain Paolo Maldini has revealed that he would have considered a move to Real Madrid earlier in his career.

"I've been here for 25 years but Real would have been the only other club that I would have left for," he told Spanish radio.

"Agreeing to join any other club apart from Real Madrid would have been taking a step backwards.

"I did speak with President Florentino Perez last summer but it was already too late in my career to make such a step. It's a shame because I like that white shirt."
 
04/03/2003. Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti says he has no plans to sign Luis Figo, Michel Salgado or David Beckham this summer.

"I can say that neither Figo, Salgado nor Beckham will arrive," he said on Antenna 3. "We have made three big signings in Nesta, Seedorf and Rivaldo."

He also went on to praise Andrea Pirlo who has proved a major success in his new position in front of the back-four.

"From the acquisition of Seedorf to that of Rivaldo there have been a great deal of successes and important for us, even if probably the key to our organisation has been the new position of Pirlo. A position that we experimented with earlier and now is consolidated."
 
04/03/2003. Real Madrid's coaching staff have pinpointed a central defender as the position that really needs strengthening and Christian Chivu is top of the wanted list.

While Jorge Valdano understands the need to bolster the back line, reports in Spain claim that the European champions will approach Ajax towards the end of the season.

David Beckham's name continued to crop up as president Florentino Perez looks to perservere with his policy of signing a player that will recoup his transfer fee in spin-offs.

The success of Luis Figo, Zinedine Zidane and Ronaldo away from the field have persuaded Perez that another world class star is needed this summer.

But Madrid's coaches really want a defender and have held meetings with Valdano to persuade him to stretch the budget.

Chivu has a buy-out clause of €19million, but at 22 Madrid see him as an ideal young replacement for club captain Fernando Hierro, who appears likely to only play on for one more campaign.

If Chivu proves to be too costly, then Auxerre's highly-rated Philippe Mexes could be next on Real's agenda.

04/03/2003. Gaizka Mendieta knows that his days at Barcelona could be numbered with the Catalan club unwilling to meet Lazio's asking price.

The ex-Valencia midfielder has struggled to reproduce the form that shot him to fame at the Mestalla and Barca now look set to shun their option to buy him in the summer.

Mendieta is spending the season on loan at Camp Nou after failing to impress in Rome last season and departed trainer Louis Van Gaal was very keen to make his switch permanent.

But a new president would not see the Spanish international as a great first choice to win over fans and Mendieta know that he will have to start looking for a new club.

"It will be very difficult for me to remain at Barcelona next season," he confessed.

"But I was in the same position last June as I expect to be this June so it doesn't really worry me."

Lazio have planted an incredible €33million price on Mendieta's head as they look to boost their ailing finances.

04/01/2003. Francisco Pavon has pinpointed Ryan Giggs as Manchester United's main threat instead of Real Madrid target David Beckham.

The European heavyweights meet head-on next week in the Champions League quarter finals and Pavon has picked out Giggs as the man to watch.

"I like Ryan Giggs more than Beckham because he has more depth in his game," he explained.

"He's more skilful with the ball at his feet and maybe Beckham is a bit limited by only playing on the wing and sending over crosses to the strikers.

"Maybe he could play well in central midfield, because he moves the ball well.

"He's a bit tied down on the wing and he doesn't have a real burst of speed to get away from a full-back such as Roberto Carlos.

"Giggs is more difficult because he is faster."

But Pavon recognised the collective dangers of United too and knows that Madrid will be in for a fight if they are to make it through to the final four.

"Their attacking football is very dangerous, they are a team full of quality players and Beckham, Van Nistelrooy and Giggs are quality players, they are fast and can score a goal at any moment," he added.

But the stand-in defender is no doubt who is the stronger of the two sides as he moved to praise the attacking talents of his Real teammates.

""We are without doubt the best team in the world, we are the reigning Champions League, Intercontinental Cup and European Supercup holders and I think we have the best players in our squad," he said.

Hehe nói đến xử lí bóng, Beck là 1 trong những cầu thủ xử lý bóng kém nhất, Beck có bao giờ dám cầm bóng và đi bóng đâu, bóng cứ đến là chuyền, nhiều khi chuyền cũng hay, nhưng đó ko phải là 1 mẫu tiền vệ cánh, tiền vệ cánh mẫu là Figo, với khả năng xử lý bóng tuyệt vời, Giggs cũng vậy.

Beck vĩ đại?
ZZ, Figo, Rivaldo vĩ đại chứ Beck thì chỉ là 1 chú MR BT thôi, chẳng có gì dv, căn bản là Anh có nhiều ảnh hg trg giới báo chí và ở UEFA nên cứ tung lên trời thế tôi.
 
04/06/2003. Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has stoked up the flames ahead of Tuesday's Champions League quarter-final with Real Madrid by insisting Roberto Carlos should be banned.

The Brazilian ace was sent off in the recent friendly with Portugal after aggressively confronting the referee.

Ferguson believes Real should be "trembling" at the prospect of a lengthy ban, but adds that the "power" of the Spanish giants is why no action has yet been taken against the left-back.

Ferguson told The News Of The World: "They (Real) came out with stuff about wanting to sign David Beckham but we expected that. We are not surprised - especially as they have their own problems.

"Rather than worry about carrying out personal attacks on Manchester United players they have their own issue with Roberto Carlos to solve.

"I would think they will be trembling in their shoes because if UEFA and FIFA do their job properly Roberto Carlos has to be banned.

"Look at the two Portuguese players - Joao Pinto and Abel Xavier. Pinto got four months for punching a referee in the stomach while Xavier was banned for nine months for allegedly attacking a linesman.

"Those bans were made immediately, immediately!"

Ferguson added that the club's president Florentino Perez was using his influence to twist of the arms of Uefa and Fifa.

"That just shows you the power of Real Madrid. UEFA and FIFA can't make a decision until they have seen what Perez says in Madrid first," he said.

"That is Real Madrid's power. That is why we pray we get a good referee on Tuesday night and in the second leg.

"I am sure Roberto Carlos will play on Tuesday because it is Real Madrid. If it were any other club he would be banned.

"As for them wanting to sign Beckham we don't worry about that. It won't affect him, in fact I hope it drives him."

Mỗi người có 1 đội bóng riêng yêu thích của mình. Anh nên tôn trọng.
 
Xin lỗi, nhưng ông em công nhận là đúng như thế ko, nếu ko phải sợ Madrid thì Sir Alex đã chẳng phải làm như thế làm gì, vì thực sự là đó là chuyện của Madrid, Brazil và Fifa chứ ko liên quan gì đến sir cả.
 
Thế còn chuyện Real giở trò dụ đểu Becks hòng làm mất đoàn kết MU trước trận Tứ Kết thì sao ????!!!!!!!
Em khẳng định là Real sẽ không mua Becks:
1. Họ đã có thiên tài Figo.
2. Họ không thể đủ tiền vì giá Becks rất cao.
Real có khi trả cao hơn cả ZZ thì chưa chắc Mu đã nhả.
 
Chuyện Madrid mua Beck dg nhiên là ko có rồi vì:
1. Giống như chú nói, co Figo rồi đâu cần ai nữa.
2. Beck ko thể đá ở TBN với lối đá đó.
3. Tiền thì Madrid ko thiếu nhưng đúng, MU sẽ ko nhả Beck vì đó là biểu tg của MU, mất Beck đẹp trai thì MU mất hết.
4. Madrid đang cần 1 DC như Chivu chứ chưa cần MR.
Còn chuyện mà rùm beng vừa qua là 1 scandal BT của soccer hiện đại thôi, ko có ý gì gây chia rẽ nội bộ cả, cũng giống như việc nói Sheva và Giggs sẽ dc trao đổi, hay như việc Sheva sang Madrid vậy thôi.
 
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has accused Uefa od fixing the draw for the Champions League quarter-final.

Ferguson believes it is not a coincidence that the three Italian and three Spanish sides left in the competition were kept apart in the draw.

His claims come ahead of this weeks quarter-final first leg with European champions Real Madrid.

He said: "So, they've got a nice draw haven't they. I think they must have picked it themselves! None of the six Spanish or Italian teams play each other. How do you think that worked out?

"I'll tell you - they don't want us in the final do they, that's for sure. I don't know why UEFA gave us the bloody final at our stadium in the first place if they didn't want us to get there and be in it.

"I don't think they want us there in May, definitely not. We have the final at Old Trafford but people don't want us there."
 
Sir Alex có lý vô cùng, tui cũng dự đoán bốc thăm sẽ như vậy, và đúng như thế ko sai 1 chút nào, rõ ràng là UEFA có sắp xếp.

Sir chỉ sai ở chỗ là, dù có bốc thăm thế nào đi chăng nữa thì MU cũng ko thể có mặt ở trận CK, hoặc có thì cũng gặp Madrid và cũng ko vô địch dc.;)
