Rajon Rondo showed flashes of the brilliance that made me love him this preseason in his second regular season game (seven points, six assists, five boards), but the reasons you shouldn’t keep him are beginning to take the forefront. For one, he has zero steals this year. I expected him to contribute a lot there this season, and he still might – but no steals hurts. Rondo also sat out the Celts’ Nov. 8 game against Charlotte due to a DNP – Coach’s Decision. Here at NBA.com, we frown upon DNP – Coach’s Decisions. Boston reportedly sat him because teams were defending him in a way that forced him to shoot, and our boy Rondo is no shooter at this point. As much as I love him and as much as I’d like to see him contribute, I think you should cut him loose and keep an eye on him.
It’s hard to gage the type of minutes any rookie will get at this point, let alone Rudy Gay. He played in the high 30’s minutes-wise on opening night, and has averaged under 20 minutes in the three games since. The one game in which he played under 15 minutes this season resulted in the only Memphis win to date. Only time will tell the type of minutes he’ll get, but he’s shown us some very good things when he has been on the court. He’s a small forward-eligible guy who hits threes (five in four games), can rebound well (eight in game one, nine in game three), can score (double digits in all but one game), and can block shots (six through four games) – and that’s a guy I want on my team. If he keeps it up, consistent minutes will come, so he’s a guy you need to hold on to and is the best of the three you mentioned at this point.
Tyrus Thomas has freaky potential, but with a broken nose, a current lack of minutes and a very deep and talented team around him, he doesn’t hold much value right now. Other than Thomas, the Bulls have three small/power forward guys that log heavy minutes, two more that get their share of court time and an injured Michael Sweetney waiting in the wings. Consider holding on to him if there’s not a ton of talent on your wire, simply because he has freakish talents and a coach who will give pretty much everyone a chance, but don’t regret it for a second if you end up dropping him for a better option.
So to recap, we’ve got three rookies – all loaded with talent and potential, only one of which I’m even somewhat confident in right now (Rudy Gay). I would place Gay ahead of Thomas and Thomas ahead of Rondo at this point. If you end up cutting ties with Rajon and/or Tyrus, be sure to follow their progress so you can scoop them back up if minutes begin to come.
chắc ai cũng hiểu, ko cần dịch nhé
theo như nhận định của thằng này thì Rudy Gay sẽ sớm có vị trí F, tức là nó sẽ lên giá. các chỉ số của Gay sẽ là pts, 3pt, ast, reb, blk. như vậy nó sẽ là 1 phiên bản mới của Lamar Odom chăng.
R.Gay 6-9 220
L.Odom 6-10 230
tại sao rookie of the year năm nay lại là 3 ứng cử viên này. Adam Morrison, Bargnani, Brandon Roy đâu nhỉ ???
