Hello guys
I ran into this email, and it might be worth for you to read.
I ran into this email, and it might be worth for you to read.
All,
While returning from campus today, I listened to a bit of an
NPR piece about SPAM. A reporter from Wired Magazine
was being interviewed. One of her statements stunned me
with its simplicity.
?If you want to guarantee that you will get more SPAM, just
try opting-out of one of your SPAMs.?
You know that little window that says, ?click here if you want
to be removed?? Or reply with ?unsubscribe? in the
header?Something like that?
What happens is this: first, they will take you off of THAT
particular mailing list. Then, they rejoice, because they know
a REAL human being is on the other end of that address.
They then proceed to SELL your real, live address to dozens
or hundreds of their buddies! Isn?t that special?
Also, she suggested that analmost guaranteed way to get
more SPAM is to have an automatic ?I?m out of the office?
reply message on your email. Same as above, except you
stay on that SPAM list.
Food for thought?
It is a war. We don?t have big enough weapons. The best one
that we have right now is the delete key. Use it early. Use it
often.
