INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS

GLOBAL STUDIES SCHOLARSHIP

Eligibility: Murray State University Global Scholarships are awarded annually on a competitive basis to applicants who are citizens or permanent residents of countries outside the United States. Applicants must first apply and be admitted to an undergraduate or graduate program at Murray State University and submit evidence of the ability to pay the expenses that remain after the scholarship is awarded. Students who have already begun studies at Murray State University are not eligible. The Global Scholarship may not be used in conjunction with a graduate assistantship or other financial support from Murray State University.

Number of scholarships offered per year: 5

Amount of offer: The Murray State University Global Scholarship provides a waiver of the non-resident portion of Murray State University tuition. The scholarship is renewable each semester (up to eight semesters for undergraduate study or up to four semesters for graduate study) on the condition that recipients maintain a grade point average of at least 2.5 in undergraduate degree programs or 3.2 in graduate degree programs at Murray State University. The scholarship may be used during summer sessions at Murray State University. Recipients will be eligible to seek on-campus employment of up to 20 hours per week while classes are in session and full-time during academic breaks and vacations. Please note, however, that (a) receipt of the scholarship does not ensure the availability of on-campus employment; (b) recipients of the scholarship will be expected to contribute to and participate in intercultural programs on campus on request.
INTERNATIONAL ESL SCHOLARSHIPS
Eligibility: For international students who take the ESL program at Murray State University for at least one term prior to their degree program study. Recipients should maintain their academic standing least “average.” Students who have already met the English proficiency requirements but prefer to take the ESL Level 6/University Preparation for at least one term are also eligible.
Number of Scholarships: 50 offered per year.
Available for: both graduates and undergraduates from any country.
Amount:
Undergraduate: total of $8,000 ($1,000/ per semester for a maximum of 8 semesters of fulltime enrollment). Those students able to finish their degrees in fewer than 8 semesters will be able to apply the remainder of the scholarship to the last semester.
Graduate: Total of $4,000 ($1,000/ semester for a maximum of 4 semesters of fulltime enrollment). Those students able to finish their degrees in fewer than 4 semesters will be able to apply the remainder of the scholarship money to the last semester.
GRADUATE STUDENT COUNTRY/REGION SCHOLARSHIP
Eligibility: International graduate students from the following countries: Korea, Japan, Taiwan, China, Thailand, Indonesia, Turkey, Cyprus, Morocco, Venezuela, Nepal, and India; and regions southern Africa, Central America and the Caribbean, and Eastern Europe and former Soviet republics. Recipients should maintain their academic standing at least a B average.
Number of scholarships offered: unlimited
Available for: Graduate students from the 10 specified countries from the time of initial enrollment.
Amount: Tuition fee deduction of one-third (1/3) from the non-resident tuition fee. This scholarship is offered every semester of full time graduate enrollment up to the maximum of 4 semesters or 2 years. For academic year of 2006-2007, the amount of scholarship offered is $5,092/year (at the current nonresident tuition rate of $15,430/year).
INTERNATIONAL UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP
Eligibility: The Murray State University IIS Undergraduate Scholarships are awarded on competitive basis to applicants who are citizens or permanent residents of countries other than the United States. Applicants must first apply and be admitted to the undergraduate program at Murray State University, submitting evidence of the ability to pay the approximate $22,000 per academic year that remains if the scholarship is awarded. (Please see the “Estimate of Expenses” statement included in the Murray State University application package). Students who have already begun study at Murray State University are not eligible. The IIS Undergraduate Scholarship may not be used in conjunction with other financial support from Murray State University’s Institute for International Studies.
Provisions & responsibilities: The Murray State University IIS Undergraduate Scholarship provides a waiver of 20% of Murray State University tuition. The scholarship is renewable each semester (up to eight semesters for undergraduate study) on the condition that recipients maintain a grade point average of at least 3.0 in their undergraduate studies. Recipients not maintaining the required GPA will lose the award for the number of semesters they are not at or above the required 3.0 GPA. The scholarship may also be used during summer sessions at Murray State University. Recipients will be eligible to seek on-campus employment of up to 20 hours per week while classes are in session and full-time during academic breaks and vacations. Please note, however, that (a) receipt of the scholarship does not ensure the availability of on-campus employment; (b) recipients of the scholarship will be expected to contribute to and participate in intercultural programs on campus on request. (Recipients will be required to volunteer 20 hours per semester)

Application procedures: Applicants must provide the following information, in English, in the sequence outlined below:

1) Applicant Information Page (see attached form);
2) A short one page essay describing your extracurricular activities and how you plan to use your time at Murray State to increase intercultural understanding both of yourself and those around you.
3) One letter of reference must be written by a teacher who has taught the applicant in secondary or post-secondary classes. If necessary, the letter of reference may be written in a language other than English.
4) Letter of acceptance from Murray State University Office of Admissions to an undergraduate degree study program.

Application deadline: Complete application packages, following the procedures outlined above, must be submitted no later than July 1, 2006 for the fall 2006 semester and October 1, 2006 for the January 2007 semester to:

Để phục vụ nhu cầu cung cấp thông tin về du học Mỹ ngày một tăng tại Việt Nam, Viện giáo dục quốc tế (IIE) quyết định lập nick chat online trên Yahoo Messenger, tạo điều kiện thuận lợi cho học sinh, sinh viên trong việc tìm kiếm thông tin du học và cố vấn học sinh trong quá trình nộp hồ sơ du học Mỹ.
Trước kia, chương trình tư vấn online này chỉ hoạt động từ 15 :00 đến 16 :00, các ngày thứ 3 hàng tuần với trụ sở tại Hà Nội và các ngày thứ 5 hàng tuần với trụ sở tại TP. Hồ Chí Minh. Bắt đầu từ nay, thời lượng online sẽ tăng thời gian làm việc lên 5 ngày 1 tuần, từ thứ 2 đến thứ 6. Bất cứ khi nào bạn thấy cố vấn của IIE online, bạn có thể đặt câu hỏi liên quan đến du học tại Mỹ.
Các bạn học sinh, sinh viên và phụ huynh học sinh có nhu cầu tìm hiểu, được cố vấn về du học tại Mỹ, có thể add nick sau vào Yahoo Messenger :

Thời gian làm thẻ: từ thứ 2 đến thứ 6, buổi sáng từ 8h30 đến 12h00, buổi chiều từ 1h00 đến 4h00.
Địa điểm: C9 Giảng Võ, Hà Nội
Khi đến làm thẻ, các bạn cần mang theo chứng minh thư, hoặc hộ chiếu, hoặc thẻ học sinh/sinh viên và 1 ảnh 3x4.
Lợi ích của thành viên

Được mượn các tài liệu ôn thi (TOELF,SAT, GRE & GMAT) để sử dụng tại thư viện.
Có được những thông tin về hệ thống giáo dục của Hoa Kỳ, các trường ĐH, quá trình nộp hồ sơ và xin học bổng…

Viện Giáo Dục Quốc Tế trân trọng thông báo chương trình học bổng trong nước thường niên do quỹ GE (General Electric Foundation) thành lập. Chương trình học bổng GE Foundation Scholar-Leaders Program sẽ hỗ trợ tài chính cho những sinh viên năm thứ nhất có hoàn cảnh khó khăn đang theo học tại một số trường đại học hàng đầu tại Việt Nam (xin xem danh sách cụ thể).

Đối tượng tham gia chương trình học bổng là các sinh viên xuất sắc đang theo học các ngành kinh doanh, kỹ sư và khoa học tự nhiên. Các ứng viên cần có thành tích học tập cao và có khả năng lãnh đạo. Mười ứng viên xuất sắc nhất sẽ được nhận học bổng trị giá 1,150 đô la Mỹ một năm trong suốt quá trình học tập còn lại, (tối đa là 3 năm) với điều kiện là phải duy trì được thành tích học tập tốt.

Học bổng của Qũy truyền thông phụ nữ quốc tế (International Women’s Media Foundation)

Qũy truyền thông phụ nữ quốc tế trao 1 suất học bổng nghiên cứu sinh Elizabeth Neuffer Fellowship cho 1 nữ phóng viên đang làm việc trong ngành truyền thông, báo chí (kể cả báo điện tử) để học tập tại Mỹ. Nữ phóng viên được trao học bổng này sẽ có cơ hội nghiên cứu và làm việc với Trung tâm Quốc tế học tại trường đại học MIT( MIT’s Center for International Studies), các trường đại học khác tại khu vực Boston cùng 2 công ty truyền thông The Boston Globe and The New York Times. Chương trình này có cấu trúc rất linh họat nên nghiên cứu sinh sẽ vừa có điều kiện nghiên cứu, vừa có thể phát triển khả năng viết báo liên quan đến lĩnh vực nhân quyển và công bằng xã hội trong thời gian tham gia chương trình.

Hạn chót nhận hồ sơ là ngày 15 tháng 4 năm 2007. Phóng viên được nhận học bổng này sẽ bắt đầu chương trình từ tháng 9 năm 2007, kết thúc tháng 5 năm 2008.

Buổi hướng dẫn nộp đơn và xin học bổng tại các trường đại học của Mỹ

Viện giáo dục quốc tế IIE (Institute of International Education) xin trân trọng giới thiệu buổi nói chuyện về cách thức nộp đơn du học và xin học bổng tại các trường đại học Mỹ-hệ 4 năm với sự trình bày của những thí sinh vừa đăng ký thành công và xin được học bổng bậc đại học để theo học tại Mỹ vào mùa thu năm nay.

Nội dung:

+ Giới thiệu chung về hệ thống giáo dục liberal arts của Hoa Kỳ.
+ Kinh nghiệm nộp đơn, xin học bổng vào trường.
+ Thảo luận về kinh nghiệm, cơ hội học tập và các vấn đề liên quan đến học tập và hòa nhập tại Mỹ.

Phụ huynh, học sinh và những người quan tâm đến hệ thống giáo dục Mỹ đều được hoan nghênh đến tham gia buổi nói chuyện (miễn phí vào cửa).

Buổi thảo luận về 2 kì thi chuẩn hóa TOEFL và SAT

Viện giáo dục quốc tế IIE (Institute of International Education) xin trân trọng giới thiệu buổi nói chuyện về cách học và chuẩn bị cho các kỳ thi chuẩn hóa TOEFL và SAT với sự trình bày của những thí sinh đã có kinh nghiệm ôn thi hiệu quả và đạt được điểm số cao trong 2 kỳ thi này. Đồng thời, các thí sinh này cũng đã đăng ký thành công và xin được học bổng bậc đại học(4 năm) để theo học tại Mỹ vào mùa thu năm nay.
