I Shall Go On for Miles and Miles…

I shall go on for miles and miles,
Before the whole forest turns twilit;
As veils of snow entice the sun
To mark forlorn these winter months.

Ah! Here wither unto the ground
Bushes of wild roses and thistles brown,
By grasses so trampled and so gray,
That seem ravaged by long decays!

Into this dark fortress I ride,
I shall be home in one forth night;
By the fireplace and deep in prose,
As if for me Faust was composed.

And to my love I’ll tender, too!
Our goodbyes were but interludes
Of Life - a piece so unending,
That Love alone gives it meanings.

Then, shall we play some Tchaikovsky,
Or lend our time to poetry?
Shall we make love, or dance, or sing
Rejoicing in love’s eternal spring?

…But until then, a long journey
Far and far ahead for me!
Thus I shall go on miles and miles,
Before the whole forest turns twilit…
