How can the War on Iraq be justified?

Since there are tons of debates on this issue going on everyday, I decide to start a discussion here. Don't worry if it violates the "Politics ban" in HAO :D
Just speak out what you think. (btw, this type of discussion is allowed in VASC so I guess there's nothing wrong with creating one here).

Following are some contradictory arguments of my friends. My school is pretty political aware , I think.

"Everyone speaks of supporting the troops, but how are we really to go about doing that?

it seems to me that "Support the troops" is a phrase used for increasing support for President bush, a tactic to help his campaign for presidency along.

I feel that supporting the troops is protesting the war; bring those soldiers back home so they can be with their families, and end the war." (Bryce Homick)

"lets not totally bash American soldiers risking their lives in Iraq. Lets not also forget what has happened to Americans in Iraq, such as the horrible pictures of 4 contractors dragged through the street of Fallujah." (Alex)

"For one thing, "contractors" in Iraq are not fighting for any shred of nationalistic or patriotic pride. They are just that, contractors, people who have signed a contract that says that if they kill for the United States they will get money. They are also highly compensated for their trouble. On this issue of the solders, many of them may be in the army because of pride in the country. They want to be their though. I do not mean Iraq but the army. They also voluntarily agreed to join the army and therefore agreed to whatever assignment they were given. It might suck but no one was forced to go since they agreed to serve the whimsy of the president. Certainly because of that, supporting our troops will not help and is not warranted. If you all want them to be safer though, get them out of a country they never should have been in, in the first place." (Lew)

"A positive attitude towards the troops, not the war, might also be helpful. Its easy to bitch about the politics of war when you're not actually in it, but I'm sure the troops notice and appreciate the effort on the part of patriotic citizens. "Supporting our troops" by having a positive attitude towards them does not necessarily equate to endorsing the war, but merely stands as an effort to remind the people who felt they owed a service to their country that their country still appreciates them.

Hơ, Yesterday I was looking around this forum and I found out about this topic. I think it's a very hot topic though:"How can the war on Iraq be justified?".
To be honest, I don't know, either 8-} . I can only say that before I came to the U.S, I hadn't cared about politics(I thought I would never do) and I think a lot of Vietnamese students don't, either and the same way with Americans. A lot of Americans misunderstood that their troops went to Iraq to fight terrorists but hey, wrong way. Iraq has no relationship with terrorists. Then they thought that they were there to destroy the mass destruction and to catch Sadam. Now the guy was caught, mass destruction doesn't seem to exist and they don't know what to do there. Everything is a mess. People are dying, screaming, being humiliated for oil (my history teacher said that)so how the heck it can be justified.

HI hi, Apparently not a lot of people care about this war.
