ENGLISH SPEAKING CONTEST
IMMERSION !!!


1. English Speaking Contest:

a. Description:
There are two main rounds:

In the first round, students (target at junior high school students) will take part in the contest by writing a short essay on a chosen topic. This essay reflects their ability to write well, which will enable them to make it to the final round: the speaking competition. Students will send their essays (typed by Microsoft word processor only) directly to a mailbox which is constantly checked everyday for replying and confirming that Oxford has received their essays for evaluation. After a week, the committee will choose 20 applicants to get into the shortlist and then announce the name of finalists who will continue their speaking competition to get the biggest prize from Oxford.

Topic: What Does English mean to you ?
Deadline: Sunday, 01/03/2009

In the second round, students will be invited to Oxford head office at 49 Thai Ha street for an official speaking competition on a scheduled date and time. The quality of their speeches will be evaluated precisely by 6 members of committee.

b. How to sign up for the contest or to be acknowledged for candidacy:

1. Send the essay to our mailbox: [email protected]
2. Now it’s the easiest step. Just stay tuned and wait for the short-listing applicant’s name and get into the final round

c. Prizes and Awards:

1 First Prize: +A certificate recognizing your participation in the competition and winning the highest prize, signed and stamped by Oxford English UK

5 Third prizes: + a certificate recognizing your participation and getting into the final round and win third prize in the competition signed and stamped by Oxford English UK

11 Consolation prizes: + a certificate recognizing your participation and getting into the final round in the competition signed and stamped by Oxford English UK
+ Special notebooks and English Dictionary given by Oxford English UK

e. Deadline for the essay:
We must receive your essay before 12 am 01/03/2009

Loan em : as far as I know there are more than one student to have joined this contest :p

I have some important updates for all of you, who have already submitted the essay and even those who haven't :d

This is from Oxford ;)

We are very happy to have received all the essays you have sent to us in the recent weeks. However, we believe that the time between the speaking competition and the notification of the short list is too short for admitted candidates to prepare well in advance for the speaking competition ( we will send you ten topics before the speaking takes place so that you can have little preparation for every topic. At our venue, the topic will be drawn randomly ). As a result, we have extended the deadline for round 1 with essay and decided to change the date of the speaking competition ( detailed as below ) :

Deadline for round 1 ( essay writing ) : 15/03/2009
Round 2 ( Speaking competition ) : early April ( to be informed to each candidate later )

We really appreciate your co-operation !

And this is from me :
It's gonna be great opportunity for those who didn't submit or have a chance to submit their essays yet so do it as soon as possible and win great prizes ;)

About those who submitted their essays, please don't worry as we will still proceed your essays and inform you of the result accordingly. We will inform you by email and contact each student to give his/her information on the speaking competition !
