Volunteer opportunity for the UN
(nho ai phu trach phan News dua len frontpage cua EHAO)

UNV will partially sponsor the Youth Volunteer Club (YVC) for their activity on the occasion of the World Environment Day this coming Saturday.

The YVC plans to help improve the living condition of 37 poor households in Phuc Xa Ward’s Fishing village and its Red River’s mid strip. Average of 5 people/household - nearly 200 people including children are living here surrounded by rubbish, used needles and syringes and with very limited access to clean water -  so the river water is used for everything including cooking.

With support from Ha Noi Urban Environment Company, the Ward’s People Committee together with volunteers and local people, the YVC hope to help clean up the areas and raise awareness about environment. The Club is also looking for further support in providing access to clean water to the areas.

The event will start at 8a.m. to 11 a.m. this Saturday 5 June. More information will be sent out closer to the date.

If you or your organization would like to support/take part in this activities please contact me at [email protected] or Phuc from the YVC [email protected]

Many thanks and best regards

Yen

Rereading is your only mdfk option, skimming is not,
(Amherst volunteered Long Hoang to be the guinea pig for its groundbreaking d* enlargement experiment, but Hoang refused to volunteer himself ;) "I'm going to have a PhD soon already," he said :))

Best,

Also on this occasion, UNV is pleased to launch a youth volunteer contest with a sponsorship of USD 1,000 to reward the most innovative activity that promotes volunteerism for the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). Below is detailed information. (Vietnamse version is attached)

Young Innitiative to Promote Volunteerism

for the MDGs

United Nations Volunteers (UNV) is pleased to launch a contest inviting young Vietnamese people to apply for sponsorship of USD 1,000 to support an initiative that promotes volunteerism for the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

This contest follows on an innovative effort made in 2003 by Nguyen Van Dung, a 24 year-old volunteer, who traveled from Hanoi to HCMC by bicycle to raise awareness of the MDGs amongst young people all over Viet Nam. He spoke to groups of young people in Hue, Hoi An, Nha Trang, Dalat, and Vung Tau encouraging them to help achieve the MDGs Viet Nam.

This year, UNV’s sponsorship wants to reward a similar initiative that is both innovative and effective in promoting volunteerism for the MDGs. The contest is open to all Vietnamese individuals or groups whose members are under 25. Sponsorship will be granted for one best innovative idea on International Youth Day (12 August 2004) and the initiative should be completed by International Volunteer Day (5 December 2004) at the latest.

To apply for this sponsorship, candidates need to send a proposal (in Vietnamese, max. 4 pages) to UNV, including the following components:

-          Clear description of the initiative you want to undertake (including time, venue, target group, etc.)

-          Explanation of how the initiative will promote volunteerism for the MDGs

-          Short introduction of the person or persons that will undertake the initiative (educational background, occupation, motivation, etc.)

-          Breakdown of how the financial sponsorship of up to USD 1,000 will be used

-          Contact details (including phone number and e-mail address, if possible)

Sponsorship proposals should be submitted by 15 July 2004 to United Nations Volunteers, 25-29 Phan Boi Chau, Hanoi; [email protected]
