Leading & Following (Open Position) Overview
In this lesson, we will teach you what it means to have a good "connection" with your partner, so that you can communicate with each other in the most effective possible way. First, we will discuss the concept of connection, and explain why it's so important. Then we'll illustrate some techniques for improving your connection, such as hand positioning, tone, leverage, and the use of body weight. This may sound complicated, but the techniques are quite simple, and will do wonders for your leading and/or following skills.
* Part 1: Communication & Connection
* Part 2: Hand Connections
* Part 3: The Concept of "Push & Pull"
* Part 4: Leading Directional Movement
* Part 5: Leading Oppositional Movement
* Exercise 1: Stationary Push & Pull
* Exercise 2: Directional Movement
* Exercise 3: Swing / Jive Basic
