hi. I don't possess a rather sound solid understanding of english(-_-"), however i understand there are different between british, american, and australian. Can you tell me the different? (i guess the different is ascent), however would you call all the different is ascent though? i notice american pronounce every single letter in the words, which make it sound a bit weird and cheap (no offence, compare to british). British english have a completely differnet ascent, and somehow their pronounciation is bolder, stronger, and their tone is also different. The use of words is also more polite, selective and rather indirect (you cant slap other's face with british, let say when fire someone, but there is just no way in american rather than straight forward speaking).
When it come to Australian, even though it is originated from British, but like American, overtime grammar, vocabulary and ascents have been stripped off, leaving somewhat called "General English language", the most general form of English, without any distinction (the same case for American, however American have some of its own words like "balls"="guts", and as mentioned above, it attempt to pronounce all letters in the words). Australian often regard themselves having a distinct ascent "G'day mate, How r ya? Whats a bloody fine day". However, this ascent is in fact originated from British (its sounds improbable, but i heard all these ascent when playing British campaign at North African during World War 2 in the Call of Duty game =)))
Originally, when I watched the news and listen to an American guy talk about economic issues, I was amazed by the fact that Australian and American can understand each other (=))), cause they all speak English! (hence same goes with British). However, i'm curious to know what makes all the different between English? is it the tone? the ascent? the selections of words? Also, i'm tempted to be able to speak British properly (cause i want to speak English like a nobleman). How can i speak British properly? how do i get the tone of a British? I can't seem to have it, and how funny it is that British tone much the same for many people. Do all British have the same tone/voice? that's impossible, but it is still what i heard- much similar tone all the time. What is the tone first of all? What is the ascent? Is there any specific rule of ascent? I guess when you see a word, there must be some rule apply to that word so that you can speak it properly with correct ascent. You would not simply remember the ascent for all possible words out there, would you? If there is a rule, things are much easier. It's like grammar structure. You don't remember the case, but you remember the rule, and apply it to invididual situations.
And last point, but not last of all, how would you carefully select and choose the words to use like a native British nobleman?
*Some ppl might suggest me, to go and communicate more with British, and eventually gain understanding of British language and speaking it properly just a matter of time. It is true, however what I desire is the knowledge of British language, what make it stands different to other English variations, and relevant knowledge, rules that apply to British (i.e. I don't want to remember every single ascent and tone for all possible British words there are)
Yours sincerely,
