Things we didn't try

I woke up this morning
Carol was packing
Her valise was stacked with clothes
She asked for my photo but I said no

I called a taxi and I hugged her
She told me we can't be together
Anymore.
"Dear, three months had passed,
We lived, we loved, we cried and laughed.
And who is to say,
That we had not walked the way."

So I saw her to the taxi
Carrying her valise,
Asking if she would be
All right.
She said that she wouldn't mind
Moving on with her own life,
But she regretted that there were things
We didn't try.

"Baby, we had not watched the moon,
In a summer night in June,
When the stars are glowing brights,
We swear to love with our own lives."

"Baby, we did not take a chance
When nobody's around, I'd love to dance
With you.
Hands in hands, we dance alone
And there's no music, there's no song,
We're just humming along."

She wanted to go on, but the driver called,
"We have to go now, Miss, or we don't!"
Closing the door, she waived me goodbye
And with her strength...she forced a smile.
