Dear Vietnamese Students in the New England area,

As the revelations of financial abuses, most notoriously including Enron and WorldCom, have come to light over the last few years, the next generation’s leaders will likely face many questions of ethical responsibility of leadership and corporate accountability.

In that context, StartingBloc's Institute for Responsible Leadership (IRL) was born to enhance knowledge and awareness of how young leaders will reconcile the conflict between business behavior and corporate citizenship. IRL will create leaders who understand the problems with our current economic modality, have the resources to approach them, and have the drive to tackle them.

By joining a series of educational conferences exclusively offered by StartingBloc, you will be the opportunity to network with professionals, hear insightful panel discussions and keynote presentations, and collaborate with undergraduates dedicated to improving business and society.

Once again, we are excited that you will be joining us. The strength of this program is students like you, and what you bring to the program. We all look forward to meeting you and working with you in the future.

Regards,

Member of the Institute for Responsible Leadership

Subject: StartingBloc 2004-2005 IRL Application

Good evening,

The 2004-2005 application to the Institute for Responsible Leadership is now
available online at
www.startingbloc.org!

This next year we will be running two Institutes for Responsible Leadership.
Students in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine are eligible to apply to the Greater Boston Institute for Responsible Leadership. The Greater Boston Institute will be run in partnership with the Harvard Business School, MIT Sloan School of Management, The Carroll School of Management at Boston College, and Babson College.

Students in Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania are eligible to apply to the Greater NYC Institute for Responsible Leadership. The Greater NYC Institute will be run in partnership with Yale SOM, The Wharton School at UPENN, Columbia University, and the NYU Stern School of Business.

The 2004-2005 IRL will have countless more opportunities upon completion,
including the following:

- Internships - The top employers in both the corporate and social enterprise
worlds are now offering exclusive internships through the Institute, including:

- Goldman Sachs
- ABN AMRO
- Ashoka
- National Student Partnerships
- Echoing Green
- KLD Research & Analytics

We will be adding numerous opportunities by the time this year's class of the
Institute is selected on January 7th, 2005.

- Early Acceptance into Business School - Each year, the MIT Sloan School of
Management, will select up to six graduating seniors from StartingBloc's
Institute for Responsible Leadership for admission into the 2 year full time
MBA program at MIT Sloan. Students admitted into the MBA program will be asked to complete at least a year of work in the private, public or government
sectors following graduation before attending MIT Sloan. Other experiences such as fellowships or volunteer work are permitted and encouraged.

- The Institute is the only program that brings young leaders together with MBA admissions officers at top business schools to learn more about how apply to graduate and business school. Each Institute training session is held at a different university where you will have an exclusive sneak preview at business school. You will work through cases with business school faculty, be able to meet business school admissions officers, and learn about idfferent programs at each business school.

- AmeriCorps*VISTA - We will be recruiting 2 AmeriCorps*VISTA members to join StartingBloc's team for a year as full time staff members starting in June of 2005. These two graduating seniors will act as StartingBloc's Managing
Directors of the Greater NYC and Greater Boston Institute for Responsible
Leadership. For more information on this opportunity, please check the
StartingBloc website after October 15th.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at
[email protected]

Thank you for your time. Have a great fall semester.

Sincerely,

Martin Smith
