Mariah Carey

Vấn đề của Mariah :
Chúng ta bắt đầu từ đâu với những vấn đề của Mariah đây, quá nhiều ? Từ “Glitter” đến một thời gian dài nằm trong bệnh viện, những thông tin kỳ quặc xuất hiện trên các trang Web và cuộc ly hôn đầy nhục nhã với nhà sản xuất của cô, người đã chịu bỏ ra hàng chục triệu đô la chỉ để rời bỏ được cô, một thời từng là siêu sao từng được “doạ” sẽ trở thành thế hệ tiếp theo của Liza Minnelli, và là người giữ kỉ lục Guiness về thời gian đứng đầu bảng xếp hạng Billboard. Diva R&B này đã từng trông như một con bướm mà đôi cánh của nó được tỉa đi, làm đẹp thêm gấp hàng triệu lần.

Cách giải quyết của Mariah :
Đến với Mimi. Chúng ta không biết được cái gì thực sự được giải thoát, nhưng với “The Emancipation of Mimi”, Mariah đã thực sự trở lại một cách tốt nhất có thể. Với phong cách trộn lẫn của sự gợi cảm, những bản pop như nhàng với những đoạn rap. Phần lớn đóng góp cho sự thành công mới mang tính toàn cầu của Mariah là do ông chủ hãng đĩa mới của Mariah Antonio L.A Reid, nhưng nhận xét chuẩn xác nhất về Mariah hiện nay đó chính là cô đang đi lạc hướng.
“Điều thật khó với cô ấy là việc phải mất tích trong một khoảng thời gian”, Geoff Mayfield - Tổng biên tập tạp chí Billboard – “ Cô ấy đã viết nhiều bài hát, đặc biệt trong lúc cô ấy bị bỏ rơi bởi chính công chúng. Cô ấy đã rất cần phải biến mất và phải trở lại một cách rực rỡ bằng một album mới hoàn hảo tạo được thiện cảm cho công chúng, và điều may mắn là cô ấy đã hoàn thành xuất sắc cả hai nhiệm vụ.”

Thời điểm mọi chuyện bắt đầu
Hoàn toàn bất ngờ, “bản ballad mang một hơi thở của sự sống” We Belong Together là hit lớn nhất trong số 40 hits của thập kỉ, trở thành một bản nhạc của mùa hè năm nay và đã đứng đầu Billboard Hot 100 trong vòng 14 tuần cũng như lập kỉ lục về lượng thính giả qua sóng radio lớn chưa từng có trong lịch sử của bảng xếp hạng này. Album “The Emancipation of Mimi” đã đứng thứ nhất bảng xếp hạng Billboard Hot 100 Albums trong tuần đầu phát hành với 208,000 bản được phát hành và sau 15 tuần phát hành, nó đã tiêu thụ đựơc hơn 3 triệu bản.

Snoop Dogg.

Vấn đề của Snoop Dogg
Tất nhiên, Snoop vẫn thường xuất hiện với những hit đỉnh nhất nhưng Snoop đã trượt vào con đường của Paris Hilton - nổi tiếng chỉ vì nổi tiếng- Rời khỏi âm nhạc một khoảng thời gian, rapper đi chệch hướng này đã quá bận bịu với việc kiếm chác cò con bằng ringtones, xuất hiện mờ nhạt trong vài bộ phim và cho những bộ phim thuộc dạng soft-core porn đến mức chúng ta dường như đã bắt đầu quên mất vì sao Snoop đã từng là Top Dogg (#1).

Cách giải quyết của Snoop Dogg
Chỉ bằng đúng một từ : Pharrell. Có thể tất cả những gì Snoop cần chỉ là một người vá lại mình, cũng giống như Dr.Dre, Pharrell Williams – thành viên chính nhóm Neptunes đã khiến cho Snoop Dogg một lần nữa toả sáng. Pharrell xuất hiện và biến Let’s Get
Blown trở thành hit và khiến “Drop It Like It’s Hot” bốc khói đến mức những bà mẹ ở Mỹ cũng có thể nói nó như là họ hiểu nó có nghĩa là gì.

Thời điểm mọi thứ bắt đầu thay đổi :
Cuối năm 2004, với 7 tuần Drop It Like It’s Hot nằm trong bảng xếp hạng Billboard Hot R&B/ HipHop và 3 tuần ở vị trí thứ nhất và giữ vị trí thứ nhất đầy thú vị ở bảng Hot Ringtones, điều này có thể lý giải tại sao bất cứ nơi đâu bạn tới cũng bắt gặp hình ảnh của Snoop Dogg.

Coldplay

Vấn đề dành cho Coldplay
Ngôi sao nhạc rock cưới một ngôi sao điện ảnh xinh đẹp. Có một em bé xinh đẹp tên là Apple. Trong khi đó phải bỏ đi hai phiên bản của album thứ 3 dưới áp lực phải đưa nhóm đến một mức độ cao hơn. Đó chính là vấn đề của Steve Martin, thành viên chính của Coldplay.

Thời điểm mọi thứ thay đổi
Bất chấp những phàn nàn của một vài nhà phê bình rằng nhóm không có gì đổi mới về phong cách, album X&Y đã được ra mắt vào tháng 7 năm nay với vị trí thứ nhất với số lượng bán ra lên tới 737,000 bản. Đây cũng là một bằng chính hoàn hảo về việc các fan của Coldplay không hề có lời phàn nàn nào về album này. Và với vị trí thứ nhất của tuần đầu ra mắt, X&Y đã trở thành album rock có debut tại Billboard thành công nhất trong năm.

Green Day

Vấn đề của Green Day
Trong những năm vắng bóng, Green Day đã bị gắn cho khá nhiều ‘danh hiệu’, nhưng không có ‘danh hiệu’ nào là có thể cho là tử tế. Vì vậy, khi cuốn băng thu toàn bộ album mới bị đánh cắp và khi đó nhóm đã phải cầu cứu đến một album đầu tiên trên thế giới thuộc thể loại punk opera/concept và đựơc hoàn thành chỉ trong một thời gian ngắn.

Cách giải quyết của Green Day
Cách giải quyết hoàn toàn cổ điển. Những bài hát nói về thời điểm hiện tai. Khi single “American Idiot” được tung ra và xâm chiến sóng phát thanh và đứng đầu ở tất cả các bảng xếp hạng trên khắp thế giới cũng là lúc cuộc bầu cử tại Mỹ diễn ra. Đó chính là lý do về thành công rực rỡ của album “American Idiot”

Thời điểm mọi thứ thay đổi
Đã có rất nhiều những sự nghi ngờ của những nhà phê bình về album này của Green Day vì thời gian làm album quá ngắn nhưng tất cả họ đã choáng váng khi nghe bản copy của album này. Với giải Grammy cho album rock xuất sắc nhất và với 3,7 triệu bản được bán ra cho tới thời điểm này, mọi chuyện đã quá rõ ràng về thành công sáng chói của Green Day với album được làm lại hoàn toàn mới chỉ trong thời gian 5 tháng này của họ. Single mới nhất của Green Day “Wake Me Up When September Ends” đã bắt đầu đứng đầu tại tất cả các bảng xếp hạng trên toàn thế giới.

Gwen Stefani

Vấn đề là gì ?
Với 2 singles đầu tiên “What You Waiting For” và “Rich Girl” thật sự không có nhiều thành công và chưa gây được nhiều sự chú ý và mất đến 2 tháng rưỡi, album “Love, Angel, Music, Baby” của Gwen mới đạt mức bạch kim thì sự khởi đầu của sự nghiệp solo của Gwen Stefani dường như không mấy chắc chắn. Chắc hẳn không ai có thể quên được thành công của album đạt 17 đĩa bạch kim “Tragic Kingdom” của No Doubt năm 1997.

Và Gwen đã làm gì để có được thành công hiện tại ?
Đổi sang style “Bananas”. Giống như cách làm của Snoop Dogg, Gwen đã biết chọn ra ai có thể đem lại thành công cho mình. Một lần nữa lại là cái tên Pharrell. Với sự góp mặt của Pharrell trong việc chỉ đạo cho “Hollaback Girl” thì Gwen mới thật sự trở thành một hiện tượng.

“B-A-N-A-N-A-S” là cơn sốt tại Mỹ trong suốt mùa hè 2005. Thật ra, “Hollaback Girl” được thu trong 2 tuần trước khi album của Gwen được ra mắt với mục đích kéo cả album mang âm điệu không khoẻ khoắn lắm của Gwen và nó đã thật sự mang lại kết quả như mong đợi. Và chỉ sau 1 tháng sau khi single phát hành, nó đã kéo được doanh thu của “Love, Angel, Music, Baby” lên thêm một lần bạch kim nữa. Và trong lễ trao giải MTV Video Music Awards vừa rồi, “Hollaback Girl” cũng đã gặt hái được những giải VMA đầu tiên cho Gwen Stefani.
