Misconception between Hacker vs. Cracker

Các đồng chí nhầm lẫn giữa hai khái niệm và định nghĩa của hành động "hack" và "crack" hết rồi..

Những "hack" mà các đồng chí đưa ra ở trên không phải là "hack".. mà thực ra là "crack"..

Hackers là những expert programmers and networking wizards, họ có trí thức cao về tin học, và hành động hack của họ là nhằm mục đích tìm tòi học hỏi, ngoài ra, không hề có mục đích gì xấu. Xã hội thường nhẫm lẫn giữa hackers và crackers, kết quả là hackers luôn bị coi là kẻ xấu. Sự ngộ nhận đến mức ngu ngốc của báo chí và các phương tiện thông tin khác là một trong số nhân tố bôi đen thanh danh của hackers, những người strive for knowledge beyond limit and freedom, và bôi bác hacking culture. Ngược lại, crackers là những kẻ tham lam (thường thì những kẻ này không giỏi bằng hackers) lạm dụng những khám phá của hackers nhắm mục đích phá hoại và ăn cắp. Crakers là nguyên nhân chủ yếu làm cho xã hội lên án hackers một cách mù quáng. Vì thế, mọi người nên phân biệt giữa hacker và cracker. Đừng để những misconception tồn tại.

Tiềng việt mình hơi kém nên không diễn tả được hết.. có gì viết tiếp bằng tiếng anh vậy..

There is a community, a shared culture, of expert programmers and networking wizards that traces its history back through decades to the first time-sharing minicomputers and the earliest ARPAnet experiments. The members of this culture originated the term `hacker'. Hackers built the Internet. Hackers made the Unix operating system what it is today. Hackers run Usenet. Hackers make the World Wide Web work. If you are part of this culture, if you have contributed to it and other people in it know who you are and call you a hacker, you're a hacker.

There is another group of people who loudly call themselves hackers, but aren't. These are people who get a kick out of breaking into computers and phreaking the phone system. Real hackers call these people crackers and want nothing to do with them. Real hackers mostly think crackers are lazy, irresponsible, and not very bright, and object that being able to break security doesn't make you a hacker anym ore than being able to hotwire cars makes you an automotive engineer. Unfortunately, the society has been fooled into using the word hacker to describe crackers; this irritates real hackers no end.

The basic difference is this: hackers build things, crackers break them.

Mọi người nghĩ thế nào? còn nghĩ những hosts trên bị "hacked" hay bị "cracked" đây..
Hackers chỉ len vào mạng lưới or máy tính nào đó để tìm tòi học hỏi "how things work?", không hề phá hoại hay delelete/move files around, khi xong thì đi ra và không để lại 1 dấu vết gì.. trong khi crackers phá mạng lưới security rồi thay đổi hoặc phá hoại data, files, và thường để lại 1 vài messages trên máy chủ.

Hacker / Cracker / Phreaker

Tiện thể nói về hackers, người ta thường nhắc đến 3 cụm từ:

Hacker - Cracker và Phreaker

Hacker
A hacker is a person who is knowledgeable with computers, but does not cause harm with that knowledge. If they do cause harm the hacker then becomes a cracker (see below). A hacker is out to learn about computers and how they operate. They want to understand all they can about computers and they, if at all possible, do this in non-harmful ways.

Cracker
A cracker is basically a hacker turned bad, but don't get me wrong, a hacker and a cracker are NOT the same. A cracker uses his/her computer knowledge to illegal or harmful ends. They do not follow the hacker code of ethics and willfully blame their destruction on innocent hackers.

Phreaker
A phreaker is one who deals with the phone system. For example they would change phone numbers or cancel accounts that belong to other people, or they would acquire "free" phone time. They used to use a blue box that would send out a beep tone allowing them to then dial their phone call for free.

Cracker

- One that cracks, especially one who makes unauthorized use of a computer, especially to tamper with data or prográm

Phreaker
One who engages in phreaking.
Phreaking - The art and science of cracking the telephone network so as, for example, to make free long-distance calls.
